A SUNDAY IN WELLINGTON

After a night out with my old workmates for Christmas I spent a Sunday in Wellington in search of a wedding outfit!!! To no avail, didn't think it would be this hard!!!
I did get some photos though.
Starting at a deserted Wellington railway station early morning, It is not always this empty but all sensible people are home relaxing on a Sunday.

LABOUR WEEKEND IN NZ

Labour weekend is here. Time to relax after a busy time learning my new job which is pretty full on!
Friends Sue and Linda came for a visit on Saturday to the sunny coast! Which in fact was not so sunny but pretty wet on and off.
It was Waikanae's annual market day, we went but wasnt many stalls as usual because of the weather.

Im halfway through the week of my new job, and glad to say its going well. As im only across the road from the famous Cable Car i decided to have my lunch at the top of the Botanical Gardens and capture some more of Wellington for you.

Despite Hail, thunder, torrential rain and a couple of small earthquakes I braved the train to Wellington, which was after a couple of mishaps, miraculously still running!
It had been a spectacular display the night before, with Lightening and thunder as I have never before experienced.

By the time I arrived it was a lovely though somewhat cold, as they say "You cant beat Wellington on a good day" and that is so true.

It was the last day of my holiday before I start my new Job In International, Quake!! and fingers crossed for Monday!! I was meeting up with 6 friends ex bank friends and we were all pretty happy to be out of it and free.
Here are a couple of photos of the Harbour. After a really nice lunch good company and a couple of glasses of a nice red wine, I happily wended my way home.

Taking the Naked Bus to Napier

Well its great to be on holiday, I have 2 weeks off and 1 week left before I start my new job. I have just finished a long weekend in Napier, visiting my friend Joy.
I travelled up by the naked bus aka Bay express. Cant recommend it enough book online and is very cheap, and good way to see the country.
I started off in Waikanae braving the torrential rain and it promised to be a very wet weekend, But no! It turned out to be lovely and sunny but extremely cold outside.
Joy made me very welcome, we had a good weekend and enjoyed some nice wine by the roaring fire, lots of shopping and discovered some great cafe's

A winter Saturday in Waikanae

A very cold day, with the promise of worse to come, snow down to 500 ft on the hills around Wellington, and a wild night forecast! The All Blacks are playing the Springboks in town tonight!.
After a few days of gale force winds and thunder and torrential rain, today was a beautiful but cold Saturday, so I decided to go for a walk around the lagoons.
Sophie the cat thought that was a great idea also and proceeded to follow me! Nothing would change her mind. Until she had to be rescued by me from a flock of nasty seagulls, who circled her and swooped in for the attack!
So we abandoned our walk went home to light a cosy fire and snuggle down for the night.

Mid Year Work Do !

On Friday night we had our mid year social do at work!! We were required to turn up as a pop star!

Some of the stars to attend were Rod Stewart, Janis Joplin, Baby Spice, The Dixi chicks whoever they are? Jimi Hendrix, Cindie Lauper, One half of Thee Blues Brothers and last night Matthew I was Boy George!

A great night was had by all. I believe there will be some sore heads and throats this morning after singing along to Singstar with much enthusiasm.

Napier last weekend

I travelled up to Napier on The Naked Bus! I have to say it was brilliant, very cheap, and comfortable. As there was a slip in the Manawatu Gorge we had to take the saddle road!! Which was quite narrow and massive drops to one side, we were up so high the clouds decended on us and it all looked very eerie amongst the turbine windmills.
Joys house was amazing and not at all like she had described. Unfortunately again it rained all weekend, but didnt spoil it at all.

Queens Birthday Weekend

My friend Lynda came to stay the night yesterday. We had a good afternoon shopping at Coastlands, Found some great bargains in the sales, Got a great DVD ive been after for some time and after a nice meal and some wine settled down by the fire to watch it.
Today walked for miles on the riverbank past Otaihanga Got soaked in the heavy showers we have been having all day. Finished day off in Garden, which was not such a good idea, Thought I would just trim bush under kitchen window, this turned into a massive job, Now I am left with a large pile of leaves ect to clear tomorrow!
